Hollow Glass Microsphere HL15 HL20 for Emulsion Explosives

HL15 and HL20 Hollow Glass Microspheres are professional inorganic lightweight sensitizers specially developed for industrial emulsion explosives. Made of high-purity soda-lime borosilicate glass with inert gas sealed inside the hollow spherical structure, these microspheres feature low density, uniform particle size, moderate compressive strength and stable chemical performance. They have become the most reliable and widely used core functional fillers for civilian and industrial emulsion explosive production, effectively replacing traditional chemical sensitizers with higher safety and cost performance.

HL15 and HL20 grades are optimized for emulsion explosive working conditions with graded and stable physical parameters. HL15 has a true density of 0.13–0.15 g/cm³ and HL20 ranges from 0.20–0.22 g/cm³, both with ultra-low bulk density and excellent suspension performance in emulsion matrix. Their standard particle size distribution ensures even dispersion without agglomeration, helping form uniform and stable micro-air cavity structures inside explosives. These closed micro cavities serve as explosion-sensitive points, achieving stable and reliable detonation sensitivity without adding hazardous chemical sensitizers.

Superior pressure resistance and anti-desensitization performance are the biggest advantages of HL series glass microspheres. With a compressive strength of 500 psi (4 MPa), HL15 and HL20 can fully withstand the high shear and pumping pressure during explosive mixing, filling and packaging processes. They will not break or deflate easily, effectively avoiding desensitization, detonation failure and unstable explosion power caused by microsphere rupture, greatly improving the qualification rate and stability of finished emulsion explosives.

Different from organic sensitizers that are volatile, corrosive and aging-prone, hollow glass microspheres are chemically inert, non-toxic and non-volatile. They do not react with emulsion explosive raw materials, ensuring long-term storage stability of finished products with no attenuation of explosion performance.

Meanwhile, they can effectively reduce the overall density of explosives, lower production costs, and improve explosion power and blasting efficiency, perfectly adapting to large-scale industrial production and long-distance transportation requirements.
With stable quality, moderate strength and excellent sensitizing effect, HL15 and HL20 hollow glass microspheres are ideal high-efficiency sensitizing fillers for modern emulsion explosives, widely applied in mining, tunnel engineering and infrastructure blasting projects.
